LOAN MOD FRAUD --- The State Bar has obtained the resignations of two lawyers and filed charges against a third for their loan modification activities.


ANNUAL MEETING IN SAN DIEGO --- The 82nd State Bar Annual Meeting will be held next month in San Diego, offering more than 100 continuing education courses, a reception aboard the USS Midway and a wide variety of networking opportunities for California lawyers. Online registration is available.

COMMENT ON RULES REVISIONS --- Comments on several proposed revisions to rules related to the practice of law will be heard at a September 12 hearing in San Diego.

LEGAL CAREER STRATEGIES --- The Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP) will offer a six-week workshop in Los Angeles to help lawyers learn strategies for taking their career to the next level.

NEW e-MAIL RULE --- All California attorneys must provide an e-mail address to the State Bar beginning Feb. 1, 2010, under a new rule of court approved by the Supreme Court.
