TUESDAY --- April 1 is the deadline to submit nomination petitions for five seats on the Board of Governors and the CYLA board of directors.

 

APRIL 3 FEE ARB IN LA --- Prospective and current fee arbitrators are invited to a fee arbitrator training on April 3 at the offices of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.  (MCLE credit available.)

 

ACCESS COMMISSION ANNIVERSARY --- A symposium celebrating the 10^th anniversary of the California Commission on Access to Justice will be held on April 23, 1-5 p.m., at the Administrative Office of the Courts in San Francisco. (MCLE credit available.)

 

NOTORIETY --- The Annual Statewide Ethics Symposium will be held Saturday, May 3, at the University of San Francisco. This year's theme is  "Notoriety - When the spotlight is on ethics." (MCLE credit available.)

 

BENJAMIN ARANDA AWARD --- Nominations are sought for the Aranda Award, honoring a California judge who has improved access to justice for low and moderate-income residents of the state.

 

PATHWAYS IN JUNE ---The 2008 Pathways to Justice Conference, an annual statewide legal services gathering, will be held June 5-7 in Los Angeles. Online registration is available.

 

AUTUMN IN MONTEREY --- The State Bar's 2008 Annual Meeting will be held September 25-28 in Monterey.

 

COMMENT IN APRIL --- Several proposed revisions to rules affecting the practice law have April deadlines.

Please join us for our March Probate Section Meeting. The topic will be "New Rules for Conservatorship Accountings." The speakers will be Layne A. Bartholomew, Attorney at Law, and Sheri Gulino, Probate Examiner, San Bernardino Superior Court.

The meeting begins at 12:00 noon in Department E1 at the Redlands courthouse.

Susan Schneider

It is with much sadness that we report the passing of Susan Schneider, the beloved wife of Judge Wilfred J. Schneider, Jr., on March 17, 2008.

There will be a memorial service for Susan on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Centerpoint Church, 170 West "F" Street in Colton, California.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Will and his family at this difficult time.
