Remembering Ed St.Germain

Remembering Edward Alan St. Germain

Edward Alan St. Germain, age 63, a former resident of Grand Terrace for 30 years, died on July 8 at his home in Ossining, New York, after a valiant fight against cancer.

Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, he served with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam as a Hospital Corpsman First Class, providing combat medical services for river and coastal patrols.

After graduating with a B.A. in Psychology from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, Ed moved to California, where he was a private detective while attending Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, graduating in 1975. His excellent legal work earned him Verdictum Juris Magazine's award "1988 Southern California Lawyer of the Year. He was a dedicated Deputy District Attorney for San Bernardino County for 5 years, and later he was an outstanding trial attorney with several civil defense law firms in the Inland Empire. He joined the legal staff of State Farm Insurance in Riverside, and retired in 2006.

He moved to Ossining, N.Y. in 2007, where he remarried.

A knowledgeable historian, Ed built a web site containing vast amounts of information about the American Revolution (www.americanrevolution.org). He was an avid participant in the Sons of the American Revolution, and in English Country Dancing groups. He was also a proud member of the Mayflower Society, John Holland Society, and Founders and Patriots of America Society. He had been a member of the San Bernardino County Bar Association since 1977.

Ed is survived by his wife Susan of Ossining, N.Y., and by his former wife Vickie St. Germain of Grand Terrace. He requested cremation, and no funeral service.

A brave, clever, honorable man, he will be remembered as a staunch champion of truth and justice, and as a loving, caring, sharing person.

A gathering of his friends and colleagues will be held tonight ,Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 5:00 p.m., at the Black Angus restaurant on Hospitality Lane in San Bernardino.
