LEGAL SERVICES BOOST --- New legislation allows for higher interest on lawyer trust accounts and gives lawyers an opportunity to donate to the new Justice Gap Fund on the State Bar's 2008 fee statement.
ANNUAL DUES STATEMENT --- The annual State Bar fee statement will be mailed to active and inactive California lawyers on Nov. 15.
DISCIPLINE HEARINGS SET --- Attorneys and members of the public will have an opportunity to offer comments about attorney disciplinary procedures, competency and admissions procedures at hearings in San Francisco on Dec. 4 and in Los Angeles on Dec. 13.
MCLE COMPLIANCE DEADLINE --- Members of MCLE compliance group 3 - last names N through Z - face a Feb. 1, 2008, deadline to complete 25 hours of continuing education courses.
VOLUNTEER FOR A BAR COMMITTEE ---The State Bar is recruiting applicants for 10 standing committees, 16 section executive committees and 15 special committees, boards and commissions.
FREE MCLE FROM LAP ---The Lawyer Assistance Program (LAP) is offering a free self-study package approved for one hour of MCLE credit in the prevention of substance abuse.
