CANDIDATES ANNOUNCED --- Eleven attorneys have announced their candidacy for a seat on the 2007-08 State Bar Board of Governors and 11 more will vie for seats on the CYLA Board of Directors.
JUDICIAL HONOR --- May 1 is the deadline to nominate a judge for his or her long-term commitment to access to justice.
ETHICS UPDATES --- Leading experts in attorney ethics will gather at the 11th Annual Statewide Ethics Symposium in southern California on May 19.
YOUNG LAWYER SURVEY --- California's young and new lawyers are invited to participate in an online survey about State Bar services and benefits.
FEE ARB VOLUNTEERS --- Two courses for new and returning volunteer attorneys who serve local and State Bar mandatory fee arbitration programs will be held in the counties of San Mateo on April 30 and San Diego on May 10.
OC LEGAL AID --- The State Bar is seeking applications from attorneys interested in serving on the board of directors of the Legal Aid Society of Orange County (LASOC) for a three-year term.
KIDS GUIDE UPDATED --- The State Bar's popular Kids & the Law: An A-to-Z Guide for Parents will be published again this spring and distributed free throughout the state to children and their parents.
JNE SEEKS MEMBERS ---The State Bar is seeking active members of the bar, former members of the judiciary and members of the public who wish to volunteer to serve on the 2008 Judicial Nominees Evaluation Commission (JNE). The application deadline is June 1.
JUSTICE GAP FUND --- The State Bar is seeking public comment on a proposal to seek contributions to legal services on the State Bar's annual fee statement.
