From the President's Desk, Wilfred J. Schneider, Jr.

From the December 2004 SBCBA Bar Bulletin

Our Executive Director, Elaine Rosen, resigned on November 19, 2004. She will be missed. She will still remain involved as our liaison for the upcoming DCA Outreach Plus scheduled for January 13, 2005, at Pacific High School.

It is our hope to have a new Executive Director in place by the end of the first quarter, 2005. In the interim, Claire Furness will manage the day-to-day operation of the Bar.

A description of the many duties of the Executive Director appears in this months Bulletin. The applicant should have non-profit management experience in a professional association, a law degree and/or experience working with individuals in the legal profession, fiscal experience, public relations and marketing experience, good oral and written communication skills, and good
interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with the Board of Directors, staff and members. Among the most important qualification for an Executive Director is to possess the ability to work with and empower attorneys to join the Bar and its many activities. Anyone who is interested in the position should send his or her resume to the Bar Building.

The Juvenile Dependency Court Dedication occurred on October 7, 2005. It is a magnificent facility, located at 860 E. Gilbert in San Bernardino. It is a model to follow as we move to our temporary courts while the central courthouse is being refurbished.

Joseph Ortiz and Kathleen Patterson will remain as co-chairs of our Barrister Section that meets at Noon on the third Wednesday of each month at the Bar Building. Amy Garrett will remain as the Chair of our Family Law Section that meets at 4:30 P. M. on the last Thursday of each month at Nena's Restaurant. Gary Brown is the Chair of the joint RCBA and SBCBA Envirnonmental Law Section that meets at Noon on the first Tuesday of the month with the location alternating
between Riverside and San Bernardino. Bryan Hartnell and Layne Bartholomew will co-Chair the
Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law Section. Michael Scafiddi will remain as the Chair of the Criminal Law Section that meets at Noon on the last Wednesday of each month (except November and December) at his office or at the Bar Building. (Blog Editor's Note: please be sure to check the Inland Empire Bar Events Calendar online at SBCBA.org and Riversidecountybar.com for updates or changes to the "default" schedule outlined above.)

James Secord will continue as the Chair of the Resolutions Committee. Regrettably, Jim has resigned from the Board of Directors.

I am sincerely humbled by being allowed to serve as your President this year, and I certainly plan to proceed with as much civility, professionalism, and fortitude as is necessary to meet all of the challenges ahead.
