The State Bar of California e-briefs

FRAUD ALERT --- Attorneys are warned to beware of international Internet scams purporting to hire U.S. lawyers to collect large debts.


STEPPING DOWN --- The Board of Governors will seek a new chief trial counsel to head the bar's prosecution unit.



BOG ELECTION --- June 30 is the last day for eligible voters to cast a ballot for a candidate for one of five open seats on the State Bar Board of Governors.



SEPTEMBER IN SAN DIEGO --- The State Bar's 82nd Annual Meeting (Sept. 10-13) will offer a wide range of educational programs for MCLE credit.



CALLING ALL ARTISTS --- August 1 is the deadline for members of the bench and bar to submit entries for the Annual Meeting Bench and Bar Art Exhibit.



SPECIALIST EXAM --- The exam to become certified as a legal specialist will be administered Aug. 9. The State Bar certifies specialists in 11 fields of law.



SENIORS GUIDE --- The State Bar's popular Seniors & the Law: A Guide for Maturing Californians has been updated.



BAR FOUNDATION ---The California Bar Foundation is seeking applications for several positions on its board of directors for terms beginning in January 2010.
