BANK STABILITY CONCERNS --- The State Bar's Ethics Hotline offers lawyers research assistance on professional responsibility issues related to client trust accounts and the nation's current financial crisis.

FORECLOSURE CLEARINGHOUSE ---The Public Interest Clearinghouse has created a Web site to provide information about the mortgage foreclosure crisis as well as opportunities for attorneys to volunteer their help.

FEE ARB TRAINING --- The Kern County Bar Association and the State Bar are offering a fee arbitration training session on Oct. 15, in Bakersfield.

NEW STATE BAR COURT JUDGE --- Judge Catherine D. Purcell of the Superior Court of Kern County was appointed to the Review Department of State Bar Court by the Supreme Court.

BOG ELIGIBILITY --- Thousand Oaks attorney Michael Tenenbaum survived a challenge to his eligibility to represent State Bar District 6.

CALBAR CONNECT --- A new members-only Web site, CalBar Connect, links attorneys to affinity partners who offer discounts and programs to help them save money in their practices.

GOING GREEN --- The State Bar is promoting “green” practices in law firms through a set of voluntary standards aimed at preserving and improving the environment.
