New Client's Right to Arbitrate Form!
At its March 9, 2007 meeting, the State Bar Board of Governors approved a new Notice of Client's Right to Arbitration Form effective April 1, 2007. This form was revised to attempt to improve the identification of the lawyer, the particular fee dispute and the information about the client's rights when faced with such a Notice about a fee dispute.
Effective April 1, 2007, lawyers who intend to file a lawsuit or request private arbitration against the client for unpaid fees must use the April 1 version of the Notice form. A copy of the Notice form is attached. The Notice form will be posted on the State Bar website and an alert to members to use the new form will issue in the April 2007 Cal Bar Journal.
